Newsletter of Hope - In the quiet place

In the quiet place

I was sharing last month how busy I was with my work and life in general.  How I was hungering for more time with the Lord.  The month of September brought me to the place of finding that quiet place with the Lord once again.  I had been in that place of busyness for a number of months and found it difficult to quiet my mind.

This was due to the work load at work, and because of this other things had to wait to be done, so my list was continually growing.  Any time I had off work I used to catch up on the things at home and shopping for the things needed.

My husband and I had been inspired to buy a touring caravan and decided to go away to a quiet place for a weeks holiday.  We went to a beautiful forest park, with beautiful scenery and walks.  I could not have asked for anything better.  I loved the peace and quiet, with not too many people, with no demands.

I still found my mind unsettled, I was still making lists of things to do, but I was slowly slowing down, I was decompressing which would be the word I would describe what was happening.  I had big plans to do some reading, to do some writing, but all I could manage was a little writing. What I did manage to do was go for a good walk every day and take in the beauty of what God had created, talking to the Lord and enjoying His splendour.

God wants us to be in that place of rest at all times, even in those times of busyness, those times of trials.  I am still growing in that area, and will overcome and be able to stay in that stillness, even in the storms of life.

Jesus withdrew to the mountain to pray, so if He needed to do this how much more do we need to do this, to withdraw from life's busyness and spend that time with the Father, how much more do we need to separate ourselves from the busyness of life and be still with the Lord.  How much more!

Luke 6:12  One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night.

Matthew 14:23  After he had dismissed the crowds, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray.  When it was evening, He was there alone.

On the last day of our holiday at the forest park, I went to take a shower in the building provided, and in that shower cubical there was a wee white stone left by someone with the scripture ‘Be still and know that I am God’.  Psalm 46:10.  I had been reading this scripture that week and knew the Lord was speaking to me.

How do we come out of that quiet place, by choice, by choices we make, it’s a mind set.  For me it has been when I have all whats on my list accomplished then I can relax and spend that quiet time with the Lord. This is wrong, you see I did this many years ago, and at that time I was not saved, but, because of this mind set of trying to do everything on my list, working from early morning to late evening I ended up having a break down because my body could not sustain that abuse, without rest.

When I push through that desire to accomplish that list before spending time with the Lord in that quiet place, I find that the list becomes less important, yet I still accomplish what’s on that list, probably faster than I would had done it if I had done it before my quiet time with the Lord.  So this is what I want to overcome, that mindset to work through my list first before being still with the Lord. I want to turn that around and rest in the Lord first and then do the things that need done. Renewing my mind.

Exodus 14:14  The Lord will fight for you while you (only need to) keep silent and remain calm.

Psalm 62:5  Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him.

Psalm 62:8  O my people, trust in him at all times, Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.

Newsletter of Hope - Living life yielded to Holy Spirit

Living life yielded to Holy Spirit                                                        Over the last few months I have been thinking about life as the title says, being yielded to Holy Spirit all the time.   I love the Lord and want others to know about Jesus so that they also can be set free from pain and torment and brokenness, to be healed in their bodies, to know the truth that sets them free.  To have a relationship with Jesus now in this lifetime. I have noticed that there have been moments that I will ponder or hesitate to share Jesus with others.  Why is this?  For many years I struggled to speak to strangers, I could have a great conversation in my head, but actually speaking out of my mouth was very difficult, so difficult that when I tried to speak it came out as a muffle or broken and the person either did not ...

Newsletter of Hope - The beautiful Word of the Lord

The beautiful Word of the Lord                                                                  When I first became a believer of Jesus Christ, I struggled to sit down and read the Word of God.   The Bible just looked so big and complex, I did not know where to start.   When I started to read the scriptures they did not make much sense to me. But instead of putting it aside, I pursued His Word and kept going to the scriptures.   The Holy Spirit has helped me on my journey of reading, studying, praying, confessing and mediation the Living Word of God. Firstly, this Newsletter that you are reading, this is what the Lord had me to do.   Initially...

Newsletter of Hope - Jesus

Jesus   Over this last year or two my life has changed dramatically.  My desires have also been changing and my heart even more so. I want to share with you just what that has mean’t for me.   I was in business, almost 30 years which involved working long hours and putting a lot of myself into it.  Things started to change for me and the joy of running this business was gone, I had no peace even though I still did the work, putting the effort and care into it as I always did, it just seemed to get harder financially, emotionally and physically.  On top of this my desire to do more for the Lord was growing in my heart, to spend time with Him, to study and share the deep love that was growing in me for Him.  I had a yearning to know Him more.   I became discouraged and burdened with the business, so there came a point nearly two years ago, that my husband and I decided to close the business down.  This was a difficult and hard decision because I...
