Free indeed
I want to share with you my testimony of how Jesus set me free.
When I asked Jesus into my heart I was born again. My Spirit was made new. Being born again did not instantly transform me into this Holy of Holy person, there was work to be done in my soul. We are made up of Spirit, soul and body. So my Spirit was made new but my soul which is my mind, will and emotions needed to be transformed.
Romans 12:2. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
When I was a young christian I remember starting to sing a praise and worship song out loud at church. For me to sing out loud was not something I did but this song I remember saying to myself ‘I really like this song” and started to sing it out. Suddenly, I felt a pain in my lower back and then felt power go out of my body, my legs and my arms. I had to sit down, I tried to lift my arms to drink a glass of water but couldn’t, so my husband had to lift the glass to my mouth. I felt nauseous and felt like I was going to throw up.
Something left me that day, something spiritual, something dark. Somehow a door had been opened in my life that had let something evil in, something dark. I believe it was most likely when I was abused by my father at a young age, I became very bitter and angry for much of my life up into my thirties. I had unforgiveness in my heart. It wasn’t until I received Jesus as my Lord and Saviour did I receive freedom from that.
I want to tell you that this is very real, there is a darkness, there are demons and we can open doors to this darkness intentionally or unintentionally.
Hosea 4:6. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…
As christians we need to keep a check on ourselves, the devil can be very discreet, he doesn’t shout ‘here I am’, things can go downhill gradually over months, over years, things can be hidden that you are not even aware off. It is so important to know and do the Word of God, to have a deep deep relationship with the Lord and to have a listening ear to the Holy Spirit and be obedient to His directions, praying and and keeping our eyes on Jesus.
Ephesians 6:12-13 Your hand-to-hand combat is not with human beings, but with the highest principalities and authorities operating in rebellion under the heavenly realms. For they are a powerful class of demon gods and evil spirits that hold this dark world in bondage. Because of this, you must wear all the armour that God provides so you’re protected as you confront the slanderer, for you are destined for all things and will rise victorious.
I did not know that I needed deliverance to be set free at that time, we don’t always see what’s happening. When you do recognise something is amiss, seek first the Kingdom of God, spend time with the Lord, ask forgiveness and renounce anything that He shows you. If you need some help then go to someone that knows about deliverance who can pray with you.
Just recently I witnessed a young man receive prayer and freedom. This young man had received Jesus into his heart a number of weeks earlier. This young mans Spirit was born again, made new but there were still doors that needed to be closed, there were things of darkness that needed to be dealt with, from his past. We came to see that this young man needed some help as we saw that the devil was oppressing him and wanted to cause him harm.
John 10:10. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
This young man received ministry, as the man was ministering to him, listened to the Holy Spirit, the demons were cast out. As I watched this young man be set free from demonic oppression, I saw his complex change, his countenance change, life came into his skin tone, light came into his eyes, joy came into his heart. He received deliverance from demonic oppression.
Jesus set him free from the torment of the devil, from the oppression of the devil. Jesus set the captive free!
Witnessing this has changed me. Jesus set me free and this was a gradual process for me, but with this young man seeing that oppression lift from him, seeing that instant change in his complex and countenance has really woken me up to how the devil is real about his attempt to steal, kill and destroy peoples lives even starting from the day a baby is conceived. This is very real, there is darkness and one way the devil works is through Halloween. Halloween is not something you want to take part in. This is darkness, don’t open those doors for the enemy to get a foothold. Anything to do with Halloween avoid it, do not participate.
1 Cor 10:21. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.
The 31st of October is a day you want to praise the Lord, to give thanks for life, and life in abundance, to share truth in the darkness that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, that there’s only one way to the Father and that is through Him.
Matthew 5:14 You are the light of the world…..
John 1:5. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
We as Christians must separate ourselves from the world, not participate. We must shine for Jesus not blend into the world and its darkness.
If you have opened doors to the enemy knowingly or unknowingly, if you are feeling that oppression and need help, please get in touch and we will pray with you, Jesus can set you free. Cry out to Him, open the door of your heart and let Him in, He’s waiting on you to decide. It’s your decision, you choose, but remember tomorrow is never promised and Jesus is coming back soon, time is running out, call on His name today. Jesus loves you! No-one is too far gone, He wants to set you free. Come into His outreached arms, He’s waiting!
